Safety Workwear Shop supplies protective clothing and PPE to construction companies. Construction workers are protected with appropriate protection for their activity. Read our tips in the interview with construction worker Jake.
Interviewer: Jake, can you tell us about a time when you had to put safety first as a construction worker?
Jake: Sure, there was a point where we were working on a multi-story building and I noticed that some of the scaffolding had become unstable. I immediately notified my supervisor and we stopped work until the problem was resolved.
Interviewer: What are some of the hazards construction workers face in the workplace?
Jake: According to official agencies, construction workers face many hazards, including falls, being struck by objects, electrocution, and accidents involving trapping or entrapment. Falls are the leading cause of fatal accidents in construction.
Interviewer: What are some safety tips construction workers can follow to avoid accidents?
Jake: Here are five safety tips to stay safe in the workplace:
-
Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as helmets, goggles and work boots.
-
Be aware of your surroundings and potential hazards. Look for unsafe conditions and report them immediately.
-
Use proper lifting techniques and avoid overloading. If a load is too heavy, ask for help or use equipment to move it.
-
Follow all safety rules and procedures. Regularly attend safety meetings and training sessions.
-
Don't take shortcuts. Always follow the correct procedures, even if it takes a little more time.
Interviewer: Thanks for sharing those tips, Jake. How has prioritizing workplace safety benefited you and your team?
Jake: Putting safety first has not only helped keep myself and my colleagues safe in the workplace, but it has also helped us complete projects on time and with fewer accidents. It is essential to take safety seriously and always be on the lookout for potential hazards.
